Why Wax? We've got a Brazilian reasons. Brazilian and Body Waxing Specialist
Things to Avoid Before Waxing...
In order to achieve a successful wax, do not shave, buzz, or trim the area to be waxed for at least 3-4 weeks. This ensures the hair is long enough for the wax to grip evenly. Facial hair should be 1/8-inch long and body hair should be 1/4 - 1/2-inch long. If your hair is longer than 1/2 inch, please trim (but not too short!). When hair is too long, the wax may be more painful, take longer and the hair will break. Our Estheticians will not trim hairs down before waxing. Once you get on a regular waxing routine, there will be no need for trimming.
A good rule of thumb is making sure your body hair is At Least the length of a grain of rice.
Tanning (sun or salon) should be avoided for 48 hours prior to your appointment. Tanning too close to your appointment can cause the skin to lift. Waxing tends to have an exfoliating effect on the skin making it sensitive to sun exposure. Limiting sun exposure following your wax for a day or two would also be a good idea.
Caffeine and alcohol could cause increased skin sensitivity due to their stimulating properties. To prevent this, they should be avoided prior to your appointment.
Chemical peels and microdermabrasion can also lead to skin sensitivity. You will need to wait a week after receiving one of these services before you can have a wax. If you have questions, please ask the Esthetician prior to your waxing appointment.
Ways to Prepare for Your Wax...
One or two days prior to your wax, it is a good idea to exfoliate you skin. This will help prevent the wax from sticking to and lifting the skin, and causing irritation. Exfoliating beforehand will also help the wax grip the hair for better removal.
Be sure to clean the area being waxed prior to the appointment. This will prevent any possible infections from bacteria on the skin from spreading. Also, clean skin will allow for better hair removal.
Wearing loose-fitting clothes to your appointment will prevent irritation and be more comfortable afterwards.
Scheduling Your Next Appointment
To maintain your waxing results, it is a good idea to regularly schedule your appointments. We would be happy to set up your next appointment before you leave the spa to ensure you are able to get in for your next appointment in a timely fashion.
We also recommend FUR Oil or FUR Ingrown Concentrate for in-home care. This signature blend of lightweight oils gently softens hair, clears pores and banishes bumps and redness for fewer ingrowns and healthier skin. Ask your Esthetician about it during your next wax!

A Few Final Notes
We cannot wax any areas of open, irritated, or sunburned skin. Doing so has the potential of causing additional harm to the skin. We will wax around moles, but we cannot wax over them.
If you are taking any of the following medications, please be sure to let us know. They can cause the skin to be weak and easily lift during a waxing service. We will do patch tests to determine if the skin is healthy enough to receive a wax.
