If this is your first massage or your 100th, there may be a few things you could do to improve your experience. The number one thing you can do is to communicate with your therapist. This is the most important thing you can do. Massage Therapists are not mind readers. We cringe when we hear someone talking about how much they hated a past massage because of something that could have easily been corrected if they would have just asked. We conducted an online survey with our clients and every single thing they were not happy with could have easily been adjusted to fit their needs. For example, two said the massage room was too cold. We have a heater, a table warmer and an extra blanket in facility at all times, you just have to ask. Massage Therapists are here to make you as comfortable as we can so you can relax and receive the most beneficial treatment possible. Outside of good communication with your therapist what can you do to get the most out of your next massage?

I have been thinking about going to massage therapy, and I'm looking for advice to get the most out of it. I like that you recommend to not be afraid of asking any questions, or concerns. I will definitely follow your advice since I want to maximize my experience as much as possible.

Thanks for helping me understand that I must also calm my mind along with my body muscles if I were to get a massage. I'm a bit nervous since I'm not used to people touching me, but I think that my tight shoulder muscles need attention. Maybe I should muster my courage and give it a try this weekend to enjoy its benefits.

It's right to know that the massage therapy professional will leave the room while we undress and will leave a sheet or towel to cover ourselves on certain parts. I will share this information with my husband because it will be our first time trying an activity like that after a long month of celebrating and hosting parties. It is like a reward for ourselves because we definitely feel some stiffness in our body and certain painful areas because of moving a lot over the past few weeks.
